| The Institute
of Welsh Affairs (IWA)
The IWA is an independent think-tank, which acts as a bridge between public policy makers, the academic community, business and non-profit organisations. It operates by commissioning research, organising seminars, lectures and conferences to facilitate debate, and by publishing reports and policy papers. The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) The ESRC is a research funding and training agency addressing economic and social concerns. Its aim is to provide high quality research on issues of importance to business, the public sector and government. The issues considered include economic competitiveness, the effectiveness of public services and policy, and our quality of life. The Commission is an independent body that was set up by Parliament in November 2000. It aims to increase public confidence in the democratic process within the United Kingdom - and encourage people to take part - by modernising the electoral process, promoting public awareness of electoral matters, and regulating political parties. The Institute of Welsh Politics The Institute of Welsh Politics is an independent and non-partisan research centre established by the Department of International Politics to promote the academic study and analysis of all aspects of Welsh politics. The Welsh Governance Centre was inaugurated in February 1999 and is a University Centre involving academics from all the social science disciplines. It functions as a centre for scholarly research and practical advice on legal and political matters relating to the Welsh Assembly. It aims to study the nature of the 'new' UK state and the impact and extent of outside influence on the UK, its central government and the devolved administration in Cardiff. |
