WRITTEN RESPONSE FROM C. Cllr VE SMITH & EG SMITH

We do not consider the Welsh Assembly should have increased powers.
More powers to the National Assembly would encourage the further break up of the United Kingdom, additional expense on administration, delays in legislation, further confusion for the public and delays in service delivery.
There is a real danger within Wales Local Government that jobs will not go to the best candidate, but to individuals with the ability to speak Welsh. Thus the calibre of individuals employed in Wales will be diluted – to everyone’s detriment.
Welsh culture is important to sustain, but compulsion which exists at present is wrong.
