Supplementary note from the Standards Committee, North Wales Police Authority

I understand that the Richard Commission has officially finished receiving written submissions but that they may be willing to receive a brief additional note.
The Standards Committee of the North Wales Police Authority met recently. One of the matters which they considered was the procedure for dealing with allegations against Members, which is set out in the Regulations 2003.
The Committee fully endorsed a point which has already been made on page 3 of the initial written submission to the Commission by the Police Authorities of Wales. That is to say, that for a Welsh Police Authority to follow Regulations issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Guidance issued by the Standards Board of England is both illogical and a source of potential confusion.
Please could the Commission kindly note the views of our Standards Committee.

Clerk to the Authority
