Factors to be considered in constructing a possible larger Assembly

1.

AWEMA feels strongly that a link needs to be continued between the Assembly and Westminster. This has to be made sound through ensuring similar constituency boundaries

2.

There needs to be added structural mechanisms that ensure representation is assured. This in our view must include the interests of the BME groups.

3.

AWEMA is arguing for a mixed system i.e. constituency and regional. In our view, this must secure representation of the Communities of Interest.

4.

In our view, all of the mechanisms need to be linked to the main political parties. This is necessary and important to ensure that the Communities of Interest are mainstreamed and very much a part of the Assembly’s decision making process.

5.

AWEMA’ is of the view that the Assembly must have such structures and power so that its people feel that Wales as a country has a voice in the world.

6. It is AWEMA’s firm view that the Assembly as an institution, must give voice on all those issues that its people feel affected
