| The Executive Committee of the denomination is unanimous in the
view that the National Assembly has failed to arouse public
enthusiasm because its powers are far too limited. We
believe that it should be given the same power as the
Scottish Parliament at the earliest possible moment.
The congregational Federation is an English speaking denomination. Most of our Churches are in the south and east of Wales. The Executive Committee also is mainly monoglot English speaking and from those areas. My personal view is that the Scottish model should be a staging post leading to a Parliament modelled on and with the same powers as the Parliament of the Irish Republic. Christopher Gillham |
